Duke Nukem 3D — культовая компьютерная игра в жанре шутера от первого лица, созданная компанией 3D Realms (подразделение Apogee) в 1996 году. Duke Nukem 3D является логическим продолжением игр серии Duke Nukem, но если первые две игры из серии были двухмерными платформерами, то третья часть выполнена в популярном на то время стиле Doom (псевдотрехмерные коридоры, вид от первого лица, сражения с применением различного вида холодного, огнестрельного, а также вымышленного оружия). Фактически, Duke Nukem 3D был ответом компании Apogee на серию игр Doom, а также на Heretic и Hexen от компании id Software.
Но новая, трёхмерная часть Duke Nukem не стала очередным клоном Doom, она сумела составить конкуренцию вышедшему в то же время более технически совершенному Quake. Duke Nuclear Winter (also called Duke: Nuclear Winter or Duke Nukem: Nuclear Winter) is an expansion pack to 3D Realms's first-person shooter, Duke Nukem 3D. It was developed by Simply Silly Software and published by WizardWorks. The expansion was released on December 30, 1997.
Plot
Santa Claus has been captured and brainwashed by the alien maggots that Duke defeated last time; however, to make matters worse, they're supported by a new enemy force calling themselves the Feminist Elven Militia ! Duke Nukem needs to travel to the North Pole in order to stop Santa Claus and the intruders together with whatever evil plan he has planned. Our hero will visit many familiar locations during his journey but also new locations.
Enemies
Apart from containing several new enemies like snow men that throw snow balls at the player, and female elves that use dual sub-machine guns, old enemies also make a comeback such as Pig Cops and Enforcers with Christmas costumes to fit the general theme of the game. The Santa Claus, appropriately going by the name Santa Claws as well, also makes an appearance as the boss of the episode.
Level design
Most levels in the game are snow themed including previously visited levels like Red Light District and Hollywood Holocaust which the player went through in the original game. However, there are also new levels which will have the player travel to such as the headquarters of Santa Claus, a large town village and a toy factory.

After an alien ship crash lands at the Capitol Building, aliens began a
vicious assault destroying critical government buildings, invading national
monuments, and taking over key military installations. The Aliens even
managed to destroy our secret government tunnel system brining our government
to a standstill.
Arriving in D.C., Duke is dropped off on the front lawn of the White House to
begin his search for the President.
Quick note: We have included a new ending animation which will play when you
complete the entire `Duke It Out In D.C.' episode. When this new animation
starts, don't press any keys or you will skip right past the exciting
conclusion!
Level 1 - Hell to the Chief
---------------------------
This level puts you smack dab in our nations center of power - the White
House. Here's your chance to see the oval office up close. Although, you may
be distracted by some unwanted tour groups.
Level 2 - Memorial Service

Honest Abe never had it so bad... The Aliens have shown up in force at the
Lincoln Memorial, but Duke arrives with his own brand of protest!
Level 3 - Nuked Files

If the truth is out there, there is no better place to find it than at the
FBI building. Duke begins his own investigation into the aliens, with
pipebomb in hand.
Level 4 - Smithsonian Terror
----------------------------
Duke arrives at the Smithsonian and begins his search of this massive museum.
Duke wants to turn the aliens into a permanent exhibit on endangered species.
Level 5 - Capitol Punishment
----------------------------
An alien ship has crash landed into the Capitol Building where aliens have
taken over both the House and Senate. Duke decides to impose his own form of
term limits - at the end of a shotgun!
Level 6 - Metro Mayhem
----------------------
The DC Metro System, once a showcase of safe and efficient travel, is now a
deathtrap where the aliens entertain themselves by running over hapless
commuters. It's time for Duke to send them to their final destination!
Level 7 - Brown Water
---------------------
Duke finds that the D.C. sewer system is a common hang-out for alien scum.
The sewage system may soon overflow from all the alien waste Duke is about to
flush through it.
Level 8 - Dread October

The most advanced nuclear submarine in the U.S. Navy has a new alien admiral.
Duke shows up to institute a change in command.
Level 9 - Nuke Proof

Our nation's most secure command bunker now serves as the central command
center for the worldwide alien invasion force. It is impenetrable to any kind
of Nuke attack, unless your name's Duke Nukem!
Secret Level - Top Secret

It's time for Duke to expose the top secret items our government's been hiding
all these years, before the aliens get their slimey hands on them.

Story
-----
Raiding moonbases, wiping out armies of Pigcops, and slaughtering alien
queen's can take it's toll on a guy, even a tough guy like Duke Nukem!
So after liberating L.A, and giving the alien hordes a whipping they won't
forget, our hero Duke decides it's time to take it easy for awhile, put his
feet up, and soak up some rays under the hot carribean sun. That's right, it's
time for a little vacation, Nukem style!
Unfortunately, it seems some lucky aliens collected a little too many frequent
flyer miles! They have decided the hot climate of the carribean is the perfect
place to set up a new breeding ground, and begin slaughtering the hapless
tourists in the area, laying eggs everywhere! When Duke arrives and sees the
situation, he decides it's time to put on the hurt, and this time it's
personal! After all, they did interrupt his vacation, and now he's really
gonna make 'em pay! Duke grabs his towel, sun lotion, and shotgun and heads
for the beach!

Caribbean Catastrophe - Begin your fabulous caribbean vacation here at
the Sunny Beach Resort! Soak up some rays, then boogie the night away
at the fabulous rotating hotel disco!
Market Melee - The Pig Cops have thrown our hero Duke into the
nearest third world prison cell! It's up to Duke to break out
and make 'em pay....while getting some summer gift shopping done
on the side!
Mr. Splashy's - What better place to have a blast than Mr. Splashy's
Super Happy Fun Park? It seems the bad guys have reserved the park
for their own use, so it's time for a little line jumping Nukem style!
But we warn you, you may get wet!
The Wavemistress - What would a trip to the Caribbean be without a
little ocean cruise? Hop aboard the Wavemistress for a rowdy good
time on the waves, but it looks like your cruise director is a
Pig Cop!
Lost Lagoon - Duke makes it a habit to never go south of the border
without fitting in some good old fashioned jungle adventuring. Pack
your backpack and head deep into the bush for an adventure you
won't forget. But remember, the jungle doesn't give up it's secrets
easily.
Voodoo Caves - Getting back to civilization wasn't as easy as Duke
thought! It's time to find out if all those rumours about voodoo
tribes were true. However, with all the aliens about, having a pin
stuck in your body may be the least of your worries!
The Alien Remains - What dark, sinister new base have the aliens
constructed in this sunny paradise? What evil now lurks beneath
the calm waves of this tranquil eden? Let's just say it's so
mind numbingly awful you'll just have to find out for yourself.

Watch out for this happy-go-lucky sea creature who is really

Seagull
Not so much a monster as an annoyance. Although nothing adds

seagulls. Just try to stay out from underneath them!
