An elegant, evocative rendering of delicate miniatures, this recording fills a gap in our musical awareness of women as composers.
Especially of music in Russia during the era of Catherine the great (2nd half of 18th century), and of early art song.
As well as of the russian guitar tradition, and will be enjoyed by devotees of any and all of these aspects of music.
The performers display skill, finesse, and a fine musicality.
As a listener, one should be grateful that fine performers are also willing to go to the effort to discover and enable us to hear some of the forgotten music that we would not otherwise encounter.
