About the play: "La Sylphide" on the stage of the National Opera of Ukraine - version of one of the greatest choreographers of the world by August Bournonville, set them to music by famous Danish organist Herman Levenshold in 1836. Retaining the plot, choreographer and composer, gave a product of even greater sophistication by decorating its expressive national colors.

Step 1

A young Scottish farmer James on the eve of his wedding to Effie is Sylphide - captivating spirit of air. She flutters around dozing by the fire, James, wakes him with a kiss. James, charmed by his loved La Sylphide, trying to catch her, but she disappears. When the guests gathered Sylphides again, not visible to anyone other than James.
Witch Effie Madge predicts very different groom - Gurney, James drives a witch. Which leaves harbored resentment. At weddings Sylph reappears and steals the wedding ring. Unable to resist her charms James rushes after her, leaving grief Effie.
