  Люди держат в груди желания, и смотрят в небеса желая им сбыться. В этом мире, Лиес Максия (Liese Maxia), где обитают люди и духи, все живут так. Желания людей с помощью духов становятся реальностью. И духи благодаря этим желаниям продолжают жить. А значит, мастер всех духов Максвелл, является защитником всего живого. В мире нет зла, что бы противоречило этому порядку. Но если и есть... То это - сердце человека...
  Представлено в игре будет два главных героя: девушка по имени Милла Максвелл (Milla Maxwell) и молодой парень Джуд Матис (Jude Mathis).
В Tales of Xillia используется боевая система «DR-LMBS», в рамках которой персонажи могут вольно сцеплять стандартные атаки и арты (artes), поглощающие ТР (technical points), используя Assault Counter (AC) points.
  Представлена новая особенность под названием Link, позволяющая двум персонажам совместно атаковать и использовать мощные парные Link Artes.
Благодаря особенности Overlimit, известной еще с игр Tales of Vesperia и Tales of the Abyss, можно использовать мистик арты (mystic artes).
Впервые в основной серии Tales пользователь проходит игру с видом из-за спины, а не с видом сверху. Здания и структуры созданы в реальном масштабе, что придает игре правдоподобность.

Все DLC переведены на английский язык.

- Available all instant money packs, costume packs, various accessories and upgrades.
- Access the Downloadable Content section (right most header) of the Items Menu to unlock purchase.
- Scroll down to the Attachments section of the Equipment Menu to equip costumes and attachments.
- Equipped attachments can be modified by pressing the START button in the Attachments section of the Equipment Menu.
- This can only be utilized once per playthrough, and cannot be reversed upon activation.
- Excess over the maximum capacity will be discarded upon use.
- The DLC pack cannot be utilized if player has already reached the maximum amount.

   Here's a treat for those of you who love Japanese RPGs but can't
   stand the increasingly bad english voice jobs!  This UNDUB has
   the USA english text with the original Japanese spoken dialog.
   
   Enjoy this game the way it was meant to be played!

   Seems nobody found any problems with BETA1, but I made some
   changes to improve read performance.  I'm not sure how much
   difference it really makes, but it definitely will not be any
   slower than the original USA/EUR release now.
   
   Movie, event, battle and skit voices are now in Japanese.
   
   Oh, and that giant minimap is a sack of shit; use toxtweak to
   get rid of it if you want.
